I have something to live for when I die.
I have faith, hope, and love while I am alive.
For in the tomorrow, not so far away,
Perhaps, built from dreams of my yesterday.
Filled with desires that beat in my chest.
A promise is made… always, do my best.
Unlike the demons who fight for control,
Who seek to subvert the heart from the soul.
Those eyes of unseeing who never find light.
Can I be the beacon they see burning bright?
Lofty the task at hand do we face,
Consider the lesser who fall in this race.
No longer in haste, as we make our way.
Stop! Lend a hand; bow your head with him, pray.
Lift up the ones who we oft don’t see.
The downtrodden, oppressed, persecuted, in need.
Lest we not forget the commandments from above.
Of these, remember, most important is love.
