A Thousand Ways… a song of loss

A THOUSAND WAYS

The last box is packed and in the car

No goodbye kiss this time

Forever there will be a scar

Forever on my mind

And all the memories of our life

I’ll carry them in my heart

It’s gonna be a long, long road

But, I’ve got to do my part

Hearts break a thousand ways

Sometimes they never heal

Maybe a thousand days

Of me behind this wheel

But I know better

When I leave here

Just me and our kids

Hearts break a thousand ways

But my love never did

Are we there yet, little voices, echo from behind

Pulling up into a driveway

A new place to call mine

And in my head, I never imagined, me here without you

Sleeping children need their daddy

And daddy needs them too…

Hearts break a thousand ways

Sometimes they never heal

Maybe a thousand days

Of me behind this wheel

But I know better

When I leave here

Just me and our kids

Hearts break a thousand ways

But my love never did

Rain is falling, on the rooftop, you’re always on my mind

Tears from heaven, they console me

Lost before your time

Little footsteps, walking slowly

Slipping into this bed

How I love them both my darling

As they lay down their heads

Hearts break a thousand ways

One day mine might heal

Maybe a thousand days

Before I start to feel

But I know better

‘Casue I’m still here

Just me and our kids

Hearts break a thousand ways

But my love never did

Hearts break a thousand ways…

But our love never did…
