Contemplation… a poem

CONTEMPLATION

Contemplation…

Meditation, rumination, reflection, musing, thoughtfulness, prayer, remembrance, thinking, preparation, envisaged, intent, awareness, projection, prediction, introspection and the list goes on…

Where do I begin,

And, moreover, will it end?

To think, to prayer, reflect and say,

Here you go, my friend!

I find I often wonder even when I concentrate.

I stumble and I blunder,

Beneath this self-made weight.

Who am I? Why am I here?

What is my mission in this life?

But, there’s blessed reassurance,

When in my eye, I see my wife.

And off I go again, down another winding road.

This brain within my head,

Shifts lanes and here I go.

Memories of my babies,

Who are babies… not anymore!

Out of college, married with children,

Now I’m Papa… how I adore.

Adore the little treasures,

God has put into my life.

Contemplation finds its sweet spot,

And in this, I am alive.
