THE COUNTY FAIR
A hop, skip and jump,
And we made it to the county fair.
The smell of cotton candy,
And popcorn in the air.
The Ferris wheel was turning
And the carousel was too.
A mustard-painted corndog,
A little boy’s dream come true.
Daddy can I ride the pony?
Daddy, daddy, please.
Daddy can I slide the big slide?
I’m begging on my knees.
Daddy can we get more tickets?
There’s just so much to do.
Daddy can we get a slushy?
The one with red and blue…
Oh daddy, please!
Water guns for racing upward,
Filling those balloons.
One more try to win the prize
That teddy bear will do.
Those baby goats are funny,
Endless bouncing here and there.
This one tried to eat my fingers,
Buttons then my hair.
Daddy can I ride the pony?
Daddy, daddy, please.
Daddy can I slide the big slide?
I’m begging on my knees.
Daddy can we get more tickets?
There’s just so much to do.
Daddy can we get a slushy?
The one with red and blue…
Oh daddy, please!
It’s getting late, the sun is setting
On a long, long day.
Daddy, can you carry me?
I’m sleepy from the play.
I wish momma could have been here.
We could have had fun.
When my brother’s older,
Maybe all of us can come.
Daddy can I ride the pony?
Daddy, daddy, please.
Daddy can I slide the big slide?
I’m begging on my knees.
Daddy can we get more tickets?
There’s just so much to do.
