BOAT SLIP 33
She kissed him one more time
Then she stepped back onto the dock.
And then she stood and watched him pull the boat away.
And that uneasy feeling
She had many times before…
Was worse this time than any other day…
And she stands there…
At boat slip 33…
And she watches…
As he goes back out to sea.
And she prays the prayer
She’s prayed many times before…
Keep him safe there out at sea
Bring him here, back home to me
I’m waiting – boat slip 33, please Lord.
The front moved in and the weather changed
The radios were down.
And the newsman from the station
Said a boat was sunk and all had drowned.
The fear she had returned to her
She dropped down to her knees.
And prayed the prayer she prayed before
For boat slip 33…
And she stands there…
At boat slip 33…
And she watches…
As he goes back out to sea.
And she prays the prayer
She’s prayed many times before…
Keep him safe there out at sea
Bring him here, back home to me
I’m waiting – boat slip 33, please Lord.
She cried herself to sleep
Sitting alone there on the couch.
The nightmare of her dreams, it had come true.
A ringing in the distance
And the clock – 3:33
He was on the phone
And said he’d be home soon…
And she stands there…
At boat slip 33…
And she watches…
As he goes back out to sea.
And she prays the prayer
She’s prayed many times before…
Keep him safe there out at sea
Bring him here, back home to me
I’m waiting – boat slip 33, Oh…
Keep him safe there out at sea
Bring him here, back home to me
I’m waiting – boat slip 33, please Lord.
