HEART OF STONE
I found this heart of stone
Laying on a broken path
Its edges were worn and rough
One side full the other half
It occurred to me at that moment
When I placed it in my hand
This lonely heart of stone
Is like the lonely heart in man
Weathered from the years
Damaged again and again
Hardened over time
It will never be the same
Covered and uncovered
Abandoned and alone
Lost to the world – forgotten
This lonely heart of stone
And yet, there is still hope
From a simple little act
As I hold this heart of stone
It lives again – with contact
