Final Sail… a poem

FINAL SAIL

May gentle winds guide you forward.

May they not become a gale.

May the stars help navigate you through the night,

As your spinnaker fills and you sail.

May the heavens light your way

With moonlight’s lunar brush.

May Mother Nature embrace your vessel

As with a mother’s touch.

May the ocean’s creatures greet you

On this journey and this quest to fulfill.

Waves play against the lapstrake hull,

Bearings true upon her keel.

May the dawn beam down her favor,

As this soul is laid to rest.

Take flight, these ashes onto the shimmering seas

Go in peace; go in love; your behest.
