A WHITE CHRISTMAS

A staccato of rain

Pelting windows

On a cold winter’s eve

Slowly, the sound subsides

Into a rhythmic tickling

Against the glass

The moon is high above

Peeking through heavy clouds

Winking from time to time

The chorus upon the panes

Dissipates as if it never happened

Time ticks by on the mantle clock

As the scene outside transforms

Snow is falling

Tomorrow will be a white Christmas
