WICKED INSOMNIA

The shades are drawn

It’s dark behind

The windows in my mind

There’s nothing I can do, no more,

It happens all the time

****************

Seeking for the light that’s gone

Alone here in this dark

Searching, but not finding, no,

The smallest of a spark

*****************

Storms, they never whisper

As my demons take their place

Boldly taking jabs at me

It’s reflected on my face

*****************

Maybe there is solace

If I could only get some sleep

It’s hard to see

Through crying eyes

A soul to take or keep

      1. I take about an hour after I start trying before I usually konk out in the winter – but in the summer for some reason I turn into a sleepless zombie. I have AC, so it’s not temperature, but it happens religiously.
