The shades are drawn
It’s dark behind
The windows in my mind
There’s nothing I can do, no more,
It happens all the time
****************
Seeking for the light that’s gone
Alone here in this dark
Searching, but not finding, no,
The smallest of a spark
*****************
Storms, they never whisper
As my demons take their place
Boldly taking jabs at me
It’s reflected on my face
*****************
Maybe there is solace
If I could only get some sleep
It’s hard to see
Through crying eyes
A soul to take or keep
I haven’t slept in 30 years.. I just give up about 2 am, and get up. get a lot of reading and writing done this way.. Clever poem, Kevin.

Yikes! I’m sorry about that! This poem is just where my clever little muse took me… Thank you, Violet! 😁

On those nights I can’t sleep, sometimes I wish my soul to take! Very relatable.

Funny thing… I sleep great most nights… Muses… What do you do?

I take about an hour after I start trying before I usually konk out in the winter – but in the summer for some reason I turn into a sleepless zombie. I have AC, so it’s not temperature, but it happens religiously.

Life’s a mystery! So is your sleep during the warmer months… Just sayin’
I hope that changes for you, unless, of course, you like it that way…
