They all said I couldn’t know you
But what they didn’t see
Were the windows to my soul
Where you will always be with me
Yeah, I was just a baby
When God took you away
But your presence, it still lingers
In every breath I take
Guardian Angel, yes, that is you
Picking me up when I fall down
Pulling me back when I’m feeling blue
Guardian Angel, still here today
Physically, I cannot touch you
But, you’re in my heart to stay
Guardian Angel
When I look into mirror
There is a freckle in my eye
People tell me it’s endearing
And sometimes it makes me cry
Not because I’m sad, you see
No, the opposite is true
The reflection that I see of me
Is a reflection of you too
Guardian Angel, yes, that is you
Picking me up when I fall down
Pulling me back when I’m feeling blue
Guardian Angel, still here today
Physically, I cannot touch you
But, you’re in my heart to stay
Guardian Angel
Lovely poem.

Thank you, Liz! I chose NOT to sing it, as I am now (literally two songs in) working a little bit with a collaborator in Indy. Pretty neat! Apparently, she had auditioned for one of the singing shows. (American Idol/The Voice…) Great voice!

Simply beautiful… sometimes I wonder if my Mimi (maternal great grandmother) and now her daughter (my grammy) are my guardian angels and then when I pray to God, I ask Him to say ‘hi’ to them for me. Thank you for this beautiful poetry. You have a true gift. Blessings and honor, Christine C Sponsler
