I once questioned a frail, old man

What made him think he was right?

He looked at me with a twinkle in his eyes

And said, “Well, sleep on it tonight.”

I pondered his words and then my own

What was it he thought would come?

When morning arrived, I conceded the point

For in his words I found wisdom.

No, they didn’t think him right

Something was amiss with him

With gun and hat and knife

But he would be the hero

When they saw just what he did

Taking down the robber, yep

With a mighty thrust of imagination

Whilst keeping my breathing in check

I found I could fly without hesitation

A curious thing… you bet


Up and over, around and through

Buildings, forests and seas

Apparently, nothing that I couldn’t do

Soaring along with ease


Yet all good things must come to an end

As I tumbled back down to the ground

Disassembled was I after flying so high

Jerked awake in my bed I was found
