DING-DING

That psychedelic

Funky relic

That I tripped over

On the way to school

Made me stumble

And fall

Doing a somersault

And I broke my flipflops too

***************

Why didn’t I see

There in front of me

That colorful

Awkward thing

***************

Because, I was on my phone

Just a texting along

Instead of watching ahead

Ding-ding

HER SEASON

The last sunset to grace her eyes

Brought her tears of joy

This precious gift of life was ending

In this she had no choice

But, oh, what delight she knew

From childhood to old age

The seasons that she’d witnessed

Blessed throughout her days

***************

And as her loved ones gather ‘round

To pay their last respects

She smiles as each one kisses her

And hugs her around her neck

***************

A whisper, barely audible,

To bid them all goodbye

As her heart stops

And she smiles down

Above from where she flies

Mind Storm… a Christian poem

When I enter the mind storm

For the battle of my life

Eternity hanging in the wings

Deep down inside

Burns my desire

And strength from the King of Kings

Mine is a future

He laid out the path

To follow and trust in His Word

If only this battle

Raging inside

Could be clear – but I make it blurred

SANGUINE… a poem

Image Credit

Float away

Like a leaf on a river

Ascend high

As an ash on the breeze

Dive deep

Like the great Blue Whale

Burn hot

Like lava into the sea

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Be wise
Like the owl in the night
Speak loud
When defending the truth
Forgive completely
When the anger has passed
And laugh like you did
When you lived in your youth
THE EMPTY ROOM… a poem
Once, there was laughter and tears
Here in this now abandoned room
Memories of a life filled with love
But now it resembles a tomb
***********************
Worn down with neglect and broken hearts
Like the paint peeling off the walls
Emptiness fills the voids within
Just as it fills these halls
He made a promise that he would come back
Then one fateful day came the letter
And the love of her life was gone in a flash
As she crumpled inside like a sweater
************************
Little by little her heart found strength
In the need of her sweet children’s eyes
Alas, she moved on from the bitterest song
And let go – with farewells and goodbyes
